The wall is composed of pocelaine , modelled on the cobble stones /pavement bricks that compose many of Berlins pavements and roads.
The cobble stones evoke many things , for Berliners …street protests , pavement hurling , brass plaques comemorating the victims of the Nazi atrocities
and forced evictions of the jewish community.
In this context the wall is both abstract and concrete it evokes both division (present political climate most notably historicaly in the case of Berlin) but in
equal measure the structure simplicity and child like innocence and joy of creating a structure from building blocks.
The fragility of the porcelaine also underlines my personal view that creating walls and division does not necessarily create more security between people.
